Letter of introduction
for veterinarian professionals
To whom it may concern:
Your client is seeking a referral for my services for canine fitness & conditioning and/or bodywork. I hope that this letter serves to clarify my qualifications, my role, and my goals so that you can determine if your client would benefit from the services I offer. I offer canine fitness and conditioning services to dogs of all breeds, ages, and abilities, with the aim to improve their strength, balance, proprioception, and flexibility. I also offer bodywork sessions (acupressure and/or massage) for small animals.
Background
I have been a Certified Professional Canine Fitness Trainer (CPCFT) since 2018. The CPCFT program was offered by Dr. Deborah Torraca, DPT, MSPT, Diplomat ABPTS, CCRP through the Fenzi Dog Sports Academy. The requirements of becoming a CPCFT include: (i) completed a series of four CPCFT courses as an active participant, (ii) completed and passed four comprehensive case studies, and (iii) passed the final examination with a grade of at least 82%.
I completed the requirements of the Small Animal Acupressure Practitioner program at Tallgrass Animal Acupressure in 2021. I was certified as a Canine Therapeutic Massage Therapist (CTMT), Advanced Canine Massage Therapist (ACMT), and Senior Canine Massage Therapist (SCMT) at the Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure and Massage in 2022.
I continue my professional development by taking courses and seminars. I have worked with a variety of dogs of all ages, from puppies to senior dogs with disabilities, from different backgrounds, including pet dogs, rescue dogs, and performance dogs.
Canine fitness & conditioning
My private conditioning coaching sessions are customized to the specific needs of each dog and the abilities of the owner. Fitness and conditioning exercises are designed to improve strength, balance, body awareness, and flexibility of the dog. Proper form and safety of the dog (and owner) are consistently emphasized. The degree of difficulty of each exercise is adapted based on the dog’s initial condition, as well as their feedback as the dog/handler team progress.
Small animal bodywork
My small animal bodywork sessions are tailored to the individual needs of the each animal. Each session begins with an overall evaluation, assessing the general condition of the animal on the day of the session. The duration and the extent of the bodywork will depend on the history, evaluation, and hands-on feedback of the animal at the time of the session. Appropriate at-home recommendations will be made and a written session report will be provided after each session.
Insurance
I am fully insured by Kennel Pro for canine conditioning, small animal acupressure and massage.
Benefits and Limitations
My goals are to provide canine fitness and conditioning services as well as small animal bodywork that are complementary to regular veterinary care and/or continued strengthening after completing rehabilitative programs. I also aim to educate the public so they can recognize potential areas of concern and follow up with their veterinarian and/or other professional care providers.
Please note that I am not a veterinarian. I do not make diagnosis and/or treat injuries, illnesses, or diseases. Dogs who seek my services after an injury or illness must provide written veterinary clearance. When concerns are noted, clients will be directed to seek appropriate care from their veterinarian and/or other professional care providers (e.g., physical therapist, rehabilitation therapist, or chiropractor).
