1. Non-slippery floor

This is by far the most important piece of “equipment,” as we want to make sure the dogs have grippy footing. Make use of yoga mats, gym flooring, or carpets to minimize slipping or sliding when doing exercises.

  2. One long, low, stable platform

For this series, we will make use of a low and stable platform that is large enough for the dog to stand square comfortably. Aerobic platforms, ramps, or large benches are relatively easily accessible. I also make use of scrap wood (with grip tape on top), insulation foams (taped together with duct tape), or puzzle mats (taped together with duct tape, with yoga mat on top).

If you don’t have a platform large enough for the dog to stand or lie down comfortably, some of the exercises may not be ideal for you and your dog. However, there are still many other exercise options that require a smaller platform in this series!

  3. Cookies

For my own puppies, I use a portion of their regular meals for cookies. This means that the “cookies” are just their regular kibbles. For my own dogs or my clients’ dogs, we use any cookies (e.g., kibbles, cheese, treats) they like.
